23.02.2021
(23.2.2021) CeOS will support a new HELCOM project
The aim of the HELCOM BLUES project is to support regional capacity, coordination and cooperation with regards to developing effective measures to secure a good status of the marine environment. This includes making available the necessary knowledge to advance the development and the implementation of joint measures addressing common pressures, as well as providing concrete support to the decision-making process within the Baltic Sea region.
Jointly with the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, CeOS Team member Dr. Ana Faria Lopes participated in the discussions related to improving and conducting regional analysis involving benefits from ecosystem services from the Baltic sea. The kick-off meeting took place virtually from the second to fourth of February 2021. The project started in January 2021 and it will have a duration of two years. The project is funded by the European Commission.
HELCOM – the Helsinki Commission – is an intergovernmental organization dealing with environmental policy for protecting the Baltic sea. HELCOM BLUES stands for HELCOM biodiversity, litter, underwater noise and effective regional measures for the Baltic Sea. For more information: https://blues.helcom.fi/
