The Humboldt Tipping project, led by CeOS, is featured at this year’s Waterkant Future Exhibition with their interactive, browser-based Virtual Exhibition (VirtEx).
The 3D experience invites visitors to explore the complex dynamics of the Humboldt Current system, one of the most productive marine ecosystems in the world. The display illustrates how climate change and human activity are influencing the balance between nature, fisheries, tourism, and coastal communities along the Humboldt Current.
Visitors can interact with key environmental and societal components, toggling between the present and two potential future scenarios to see what changes may occur and the global significance of the area.
The Waterkant Future Exhibition opened its doors on June 1st, welcoming over 300 visitors on opening day. With this year’s theme “What if…?”, the exhibition encourages the public to think big about the future and explore how innovation, science, and creativity can shape our future.
The exhibition is open to the public every Saturday and Sunday from 12 – 7 pm, running from June through September at the MFG5 Site, Hall 51 (Schusterkrug 25, 24159 Kiel). Entry is free of charge. The VirtEx will also be featured during the Waterkant Festival, taking place on June 19 – 20, 2025.
