Special Issue „Palaeo3“ – Call for Papers
14.02.2025

Dr. Renato Salvatteci, researcher at CeOS, is a guest editor for a new Special Issue titled "From Land to Ocean: South American Climate Variability from the Miocene to Holocene". It is accepting submissions from March 30, 2025, with a deadline of September 30, 2025.
This interdisciplinary issue aims to showcase research exploring the climatic and environmental history of South America through diverse approaches, including stratigraphy, sedimentology, paleontology, and geochemistry. It aims to advance our understanding of regional climate and oceanograpic variability by integrating marine and continental records. By emphasizing the interconnectedness of ocean-atmospere processes, the issue seeks to provide a nuanced perspective on South America‘s climate history and its implications for the future.
The Special Issue invites original research articles that address topics such as:
The long-term evolution of the Humboldt Current System
Oceanographic processes from the Miocene to Holocene
Multiscale variability of ENSO and the South American Monsoon
Biological and physicochemical processes in coastal upwelling regions
Continental and marine life dynamics in response to climatic regimes
Researchers interested in contributing can submit their manuscripts between March 30 and September 30, 2025. For inquiries, please contact Executive Guest Editor Dr. Diana Ochoa at diana.ochoa@usal.es.
This initiative presents a unique opportunity for scholars to contribute to a deeper understanding of South America’s climatic past and its implications for the future.
