Volcanic flanks instability: what makes the slopes slide
16.11.2020
In the special issue of the International Journal of Earth Sciences on volcanic slope instabilities, geoscientist Felix Gross describes the current state of marine research. Key questions are what triggers slope slides and the different mechanisms by which they occur. Using historical events on Stromboli (Italy), Ritter Island (Papua New Guinea) and Hokkaido (Japan), the authors analyze landslides, evaluate experiences with monitoring and model instabilities of different dimensions.
