Coastal Ecosystem Monitoring in Cape Verde (CEM-CV)

Artisanal fisheries contribute importantly to nutrition in the African archipelagic state of Cape Verde.

To avoid overfishing, the so far largely unexplored ecosystem is to be recorded and standards for a coastal monitoring program will be developed in cooperation with local fishermen and coastguard. The aim of the project is to set up coastal zone monitoring that can be carried out locally by the user groups concerned. In that regard, the Center for Ocean and Society is involved in co-design stakeholder workshops and consultation on the use of drones for measurements.
