Dr. Hans Sloterdijk
Vita
Hans Sloterdijk coordinates the Kiel activities in the TRIATLAS project. He received his Doctorate of Natural Sciences in tropical ecology in collaboration with the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT) Bremen in 2018. After studying biology at the Université du Québec à Rimouski (Canada), Hans Sloterdijk completed an M.Sc. in International Studies of Aquatic Tropical Ecology (ISATEC) at the University of Bremen (Germany) in 2011 and worked several years for a number of fisheries related projects (e.g. Canada, Mauritania, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, South Africa, Indonesia).
Research questions
Hans Sloterdijk is focusing on the sustainable management of human activities affecting marine ecosystems. He works in partnership with scientist of different fields, policy-makers, and local stakeholders to generate knowledge that promotes food security and positive sustainable changes.
How can science be communicated to stakeholders and research questions developed together with stakeholders?
What are the patterns of spatiotemporal configuration of ecosystem service flows in tele-coupled socio-ecological systems?
How to contextualize Shared Socio-economic Pathways into fisheries scenarios and how to translate scenario outcomes into relevant indicators and reference points for end-users to support decision making in fisheries management?
