Dr. Julia Bronnmann

Dr. Julia Bronnmann worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Humboldt Tipping project. Furthermore, she is a Professor for Environmental and Resource Economics with focus on Blue Economy at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in Esbjerg (Denmark). Julia Bronnmann received her Dr. sc. agr. at Kiel University in May 2016 at the Department of Agricultural Economics. From 2017 to October 2018, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Economics, Kiel University. In October 2018, she moved to the German Centre for Biodiversity Economics (iDiv), Halle-Jena-Leipzig and Leipzig University, working there until August 2020. She gained further international experience during research stays in Norway, Denmark and the USA.

Her research has focused on seafood marketing and international trade in seafood products. She is especially interested in the effect of the sustainable seafood movement on domestic and international markets as well as trade and management policies related to capture fisheries and aquaculture. She investigates consumer demand for eco-labeled seafood, and analyzes the importance of traceability, the role of information and labeling. Additionally, she is interested in matters of sustainability and conservation, but also food security.
