The Dialog Küstenfischerei, conceptualized and successfully established as part of the balt_ADAPT project, can continue. An application for the continuation of the Coastal Fisheries Dialogue, submitted with the support of the Local Fisheries Action Group (FLAG) Wagrien-Fehmarn, has been approved. Funding comes from the European Maritime, Fisheries, and Aquaculture Fund, along with co-financing from the state of Schleswig-Holstein.
The Dialog Küstenfischerei involves regular meetings with representatives from fisheries, nature and environmental conservation, administration, local politics, and science. The goal is to exchange information on the current developments in coastal fisheries in the western Baltic Sea and, through discussions and networking among various stakeholders, to contribute to shaping the future of fisheries in Schleswig-Holstein.
The first dialogue in the new funding phase took place on November 27, 2024. Around 40 participants from the aforementioned groups gathered in Eckernförde to discuss topics such as ghost nets, legacy munitions and their removal, and the transformation of fisheries.
The next Dialog Küstenfischerei is planned for late February 2025.
